Be sure to read the rules and restrictions as to what can and can’t be stored in your self-storage unit.
Take inventory of your belongings-if you plan on leaving some of your items in storage for an extended period of time you will want to know what is in there. You will also want to know for insurance purposes.
Clean your items- before putting your items in storage, be sure to wipe them down and clean them. Be sure that nothing is wet, or you could end up with mildewed belongings.
Disassemble furniture- when storing you will want to disassemble and even wrap certain items in protective wrapping. You will also open up more space to store things when doing this.
Pack your items carefully. Using plastic bins will allow you to see what’s inside. However, cardboard boxes are a cheaper route to go. The choice is ultimately yours.
Strategically place your items- certain items should be placed in an upward position. Boxes that contain fragile items should be placed higher up so that they aren’t crushed. Items that you use less are recommended to be stored in the back of your unit.
We hope that some of these tips can help you get the most out of your self-storage unit!
